Walking on water

The above image is by Abraham Hunter and it is titled Never Forsaken.

You are never forsaken

Dear me,

We are only in the third month of 2019 and this journey with God has lately felt like a dream. How words have been leaking like a steady waterfall. How His presence has never felt so close. How He has spoken favor over you again and again and again. It was this morning that you realized that you have been walking on water. God has called your name out of your comfortable boat and said, “Come” (Matthew 14:29).

Initially, you didn’t know God was calling you out of your boat and into the water with Him. But just like Peter, your heart was stirred to want more from the powerful God you serve and you whispered, “Lord, if it is You, command me to come to you on the water” (Matthew 14:28) Of course, you quickly took the opportunity to get into the water and to walk towards your Savior; but please be warned, lest you start using reason and drown.

Don’t try to finish in reason what you started in faith.

Worship your God and keep your gaze on Him.

Jesus walks on water

“Immediately Jesus made His disciples get into the boat and go before Him to the other side, while He sent the multitudes away. And when He had sent the multitudes away, He went up on the mountain by Himself to pray. Now when evening came, He was alone there. But the boat was now in the middle of the sea, tossed by the waves, for the wind was contrary.
Now in the fourth watch of the night Jesus went to them, walking on the sea. And when the disciples saw Him walking on the sea, they were troubled, saying, “It is a ghost!” And they cried out for fear.
But immediately Jesus spoke to them, saying, “Be of good cheer! It is I; do not be afraid.
And Peter answered Him and said, “Lord, if it is You, command me to come to You on the water.”
So He said, “Come”. And when Peter had come down out of the boat, he walked on the water to go to Jesus. But when he saw that the wind was boisterous, he was afraid; and beginning to sink he cried out, saying, “Lord, save me!”
And immediately Jesus stretched out His hand and caught him, and said to him, “O you of little faith, why did you doubt?
And when they got into the boat, the wind ceased.
Then those who were in the boat came and worshipped Him, saying, “Truly You are the Son of God”.” Matthew 14: 22-33

The moment you start being afraid is the moment you will start sinking. Please, do not fear.

Don’t try to finish in reason what you started in faith.

You are not walking on water by yourself. Did you catch it in the above passage? Peter walked on water to where Jesus was. God never calls us to where He is not.

And dear heart, this walking on water is a personal journey. The other disciples stayed in the boat, it is Peter who wanted to go further with Jesus and asked if he could come to Him. So don’t expect anyone to cheer you on as you walk on water; this walking on water is between Jesus and you. Sure, they are onlookers. But please don’t expect to hear from onlookers what you can only hear from God.

Believe this Jesus; He is trustworthy and faithful. He will never lead you where He doesn’t go. He will not forsake you; and rest assured that He never changes. “Jesus Christ is the same yesterday and today and forever” (Hebrews 13:8).

Walk on baby girl, He is right here with you.

By faith

“And what more shall I say? For the time would fail me to tell of Gideon and Barak and Samson and Jephthah, also of David and Samuel and the prophets: who through faith conquered kingdoms, worked righteousness, obtained promises, stopped the mouths of lions, quenched the violence of fire, escaped the edge of the sword, out of weakness were made strong, became valiant in battle, turned to flight the armies of the aliens. Women received their dead raised to life again. Others were tortured, not accepting deliverance, that they might obtain a better resurrection. Still others had trail of mocking and scourging, yes, and of chains and imprisoment. They were sawn in two, were tempted, were slain with the sword. They wandered about in sheepskins and goatskins, being destitute, afflicted, tormented- of whom the world was not worthy. They wandered in deserts and mountains, in dens and caves of the earth.
And all the, having obtained a good testimony through faith, did not receive the promise, God having provided something better for us, that they should not be made perfect apart from us.” Hebrews 11: 32-40
