Are you anything like me? That you get utterly surprised by God’s faithfulness? Just when I think I have deeply savored His faithfulness, He invites me to follow Him further to see how lavishly more faithful He is. I can spend hours and hours explaining to you how sweet chocolates are but unless you put chocolate in your mouth you will never know nor understand what I mean when I say that chocolates are sweet. You can read for hours to no end that God is faithful but unless You trust Him and He Himself shows you how faithful He truly is, God’s faithfulness will only be a concept you hear about.
“O taste and see that the Lord is good;
How blessed is the man who takes refuge in Him!” Psalm 34:8
Can you taste something that you haven’t put in your mouth? Can you see something you didn’t open your eyes to? God desires us to taste and see that He is good. In our everyday mundane lives, God wants us to invite Him in every decision we make, in every thought we think, in everything we do, and everywhere we go! Doesn’t God willingly give us the Holy Spirit to come and indwell in us? And if we truly believe that the Holy Spirit lives in us, then isn’t the Holy Spirit present as we eat, as we drive to buy groceries, as we talk on the phone with our friends?
Isn’t it truly revolutionary that the Holy Spirit of God comes and dwells in us? Please never forget that we don’t earn God’s grace; God’s grace is His very nature, which means He gives us grace freely because it’s who He is; it has absolutely nothing to do with merit. If we were to talk about deserving, we do indeed deserve condemnation. Why? Because we are hopeless and helpless sinners without God. “But God demonstrates His own love toward us, in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us.” Romans 5:8
Did you see that? Jesus died for us while we were still sinners. He didn’t die for us because we were “good people”. Please, never in your heart, mind, or soul minimize even an inch what Jesus did for you on the cross. “For He made Him who knew no sin to be sin for us, that we might become the righteousness of God in Him.” 2 Corinthians 5:21
As sinners, without Jesus’s crucifixion, we deserved death. As sinners, without wholehearted faith in God, we still deserve death. For we must always remember that God is Holy and He demands that we become holy as well. “Therefore, prepare your minds for action, keep sober in spirit, fix your hope completely on the grace to be brought to you at the revelation of Jesus Christ. As obedient children, do not be conformed to the former lusts which were yours in your ignorance, but the Holy One who called you, be holy yourselves also in all your behavior; because it is written, “You shall be holy, for I am holy.”” 1 Peter 1:13-16
Come to Him
It’s a no-brainer to say that since God created us, He is intimately acquainted with our desires and our needs. There is nothing I ever desired or will ever need that God wasn’t aware of beforehand. And if we truly believe that God loves us and that He already knows what we need before we even know what we need, doesn’t it follow that He also has a plan ahead of time to satisfy all our needs/desires?
And besides, who else would you run to if not the One who created you? Where else would you take refuge if not in the One who holds everything in His hands?
Please believe this: God is able to fulfill all your wants and desires. And most desires and wants are fulfilled by Himself, they are not fulfilled by what He will give but who He is.
Come to God, He promises to be your refuge.
Come to God, He promises to be a Father to you.
Come to God, He promises to be your Savior.
Come to God, He promises to be your comforter.
Come to God, He promises to be your peace and joy.
Come to God, He promises to give you rest.
Come to God for He alone is your all in all. There is nothing in this world that will ever satisfy you like God. So how about you come to the One and only who is able to satisfy you as nothing else can?
Trust Him
As you come to God, please come with trust. Come ready to trust Him with everything in you. If you come to God without trust, you will always leave empty-handed. You will always leave disappointed, why? Because trust in God is the key to the abundance found in God. Trusting in God opens the floodgate of God’s promises.
And what is trust anyway? Trust is completely relying on God and believing that God is who He says He is and that He can do what He says He can do.
Scripture after scripture in the Word fleshes out all the abundance found in trusting God. Below are three of the countless promises that accompany trusting God; please let God’s truth permeate into your heart and find rest for your soul.
1. “But without faith it is impossible to please Him, for he who comes to God must believe that He is, and He is a rewarder of those who diligently seek Him.” Hebrews 11: 6
2. “Trust in the Lord with all your heart and do not lean on your understanding. In all your ways
acknowledge Him, and He will make your paths straight.” Proverbs 3:5-6
3. “Trust in the Lord, and do good; dwell in the land and befriend faithfulness. Delight yourself in the Lord, and He will give you the desires of your heart. Commit your way to the Lord; trust in Him, and He will act. He will bring forth your righteousness as the light, and your justice as the noonday.” Psalm 37:3-6
Father, You are perfect. Father, Your love knows no bound. In Jesus’ name, I pray that we always come to You; in Jesus’ name, I pray that we always trust You, Lord. God? Please, please, forgive us all the times we don’t trust You; please, please, forgive us all the times we ignore Your instructions and follow our own ways. Thank You, God, eternally that You will never leave us as long as we have committed our lives to You. Be glorified King Jesus in our lives. In this life or in death, o Lord Jesus, be glorified.
To You Lord God and You alone do we commit our lives. Now and forever, have Your way, Lord. Have Your way.
