“Can a woman forget her nursing child, and not have compassion on the son of her womb?
Surely they may forget, yet I will not forget you.
See, I have inscribed you on the palms of My hands”. Isaiah 49:15-16
Just like a lover, He always has a way to stir up your affections for Him.
It always amazes me how wonderful and magnificent the God we serve is. Even though sometimes I forget how Big of a God He is and I start asking Him “do You see this, what’s going on?”
He knows every detail
I got ready to attend the Saturday evening service, and the little brothers were finishing up to get ready so we can go. And then I got a text from a friend asking me if I wanted to attend her church instead. I asked the little brothers if they were okay with that and they said yes. One hour later, we were in time as the service started at my friend’s church. To my surprise, it was a Holy Spirit conference that we were attending and it was everything that my heart needed.
“And immediately He left the synagogue and entered the house of Simon and Andrew, with James and John. Now Simon’s mother-in-law lay ill with fever, and immediately they told Him about her. And He came and took her by the hand and lifted her up, and the fever left her, and she began to serve them”. Mark 1:29-31
I read these verses the other day and they honestly blew me away.
Few lines before verse 29, Jesus is in the synagogue teaching about the Way. He also heals the man with an unclean spirit. Shortly after that, we pick up the story from verse 29 where it says “and immediately Jesus left the synagogue…” It got me thinking why Jesus had to leave immediately? The clues are in the following verses, “and He came and took her by the hand and lifted her up.” verse 31.
Jesus had to leave the synagogue right away because He had to be where his disciples would need Him before they even knew they would need Him.
Jesus is always in the storm and in the difficulties before you face them so that He can sustain you the moment the storm or the difficulties threaten to wear you out or drag you down.
This may sound cliché but it’s worth repeating, you are not alone. Never have been, and never will be! And please join me in daring to believe that when difficulties seem never to stop?!
Jesus was in Simon’s home with a purpose to heal his mother-in-law before they even told Him about her.
Jesus wants to deliver us from the pain before we even feel it! Isn’t it amazing? Hard to digest that fact, right?
Hear what the voice of the Lord is saying
I had found myself crying to God, “God I am broken, how do I deal with failure and defeat?”
Fast forward, during the conference the preacher made an altar call for people to come in front and be on their knees and beg God to speak through His Holy Spirit. I found myself on my knees as the worship band sang “Let us become more aware of Your presence, let us experience the glory of Your goodness”…
And I heard a voice in my spirit ask this: “do you think there is anything in your life that surprises me?”
The voice continued, “I. Know. What. I. Am. Doing. And I don’t have to explain to you what I am doing for you to trust in what I am doing.” And then God gave me this picture in my head. A picture of a child sitting on his father’s lap. When a child is on his father’s lap, the father can see everything that’s happening to the child, right?
Same thing with God! Nothing, I mean nothing comes your way without God knowing about it beforehand. He is not surprised that you are going through whatever you are going through. Yes, you may be surprised and wondering why He would let that happen in your life, but He knew that you would walk through that valley before you ever did.
Just like the story of Job that we are all too familiar with, Satan tested Job to the measure God allowed. Timothy Keller puts it perfectly, “In the story of Job, Satan was on a leach, he could not do to Job than what God allowed.”
I am learning to rest in this truth: whatever headache I am feeling or storm I am facing, it is happening because God is letting it happen. And times and times before, He has proved that He has always my best interest at heart!
There is a greater purpose
There is always a greater purpose to your life that it doesn’t matter how you feel! Few days ago, I found myself so thankful that God didn’t consider my feelings whenever He wanted to move in my life. I was talking to a friend about this, and we said that God could never get anything done in our lives if He considered how we felt.
His purpose is to make His kingdom come and for everyone that has breathe to know His name.
His purpose is to make me Christ-like regardless of how I feel.
His purpose is to teach me to trust Him in every circumstance.
And, also friend? How painful a situation feels will not compare to the glory of meeting our Savior and the day we are completely changed into His likeness.
May this song, Just be Held by Casting Crowns remind us to trust Him with all our being and to rest in Him even in uncertainties.
Let us just be held?
