“Therefore, as you received Christ Jesus the Lord, so walk in Him…” Colossians 2:6
“So many Christians receive Me but they don’t walk in Me.
Receiving Me won’t produce any fruits in your life, it’s walking in Me that does.”
Is He a guest or a lover?
Colossians 2:6 is pressing on our hearts that receiving Christ isn’t the final destination, it’s an itinerary.
Receiving Christ isn’t enough, we have to walk in Him.
What’s the difference, right? I was curious to know too…
Just receiving Christ means inviting Him in your home as a guest. Basically, it’s accepting Jesus Christ as your Lord and Savior. Accepting Him isn’t enough? It’s enough but it’s not the whole and complete picture.
So we invite Him as a guest; and we want to impress guests, right? We try to impress guests because we want to make them like us and to make them want to come back. And this is a problem of most of us Christians or should I call it like it is? This is a problem of us Christian perfectionists? We accept Jesus and immediately there is this urge to impress Him, we want to show Him how we can be better daughters, better friends. And God is like Stop that!
“I want to come in your home as a lover”. When a loved one is invited in our home, there is nothing hidden from them; no cleaning is needed, we just invite them to come over anytime they want to. See the difference? A guest have to announce when they are coming over, so we can put up “our best selves”; but with a loved one, we are ourselves, our real messed up selves, because we know our loved ones know us and we don’t have put up any mask. And besides, guests aren’t invited any time right?
Loved ones can also go anywhere in the house because nothing is hidden from them. But guests have to stay in that one place we have cleaned up like a maniac! With loved ones, there is NO reason to impress. And since when is Christianity about impressing God? Isn’t Christianity more about resting in Him and less about performing? Because He did all the performing we couldn’t do on our way. When you are performing, and perfecting your walk, you are practicing religion not relationship with Christ.
Huh?
A guest can’t do much in our home. A guest can’t modify anything. But a lover can. In most cases, a lover in our home can do anything they want, they can move around as they please, because our home is our lover’s home as well. Nothing is hidden.
Is God a guest in your life or more like a lover?
How would you know that?
Well, is He allowed to accomplish His will in your heart and in your life? If He has all access, He is a lover.
If there are areas in your life that you are still holding on to, if there are areas you are still trying to control, if there are areas that you are still praying for your will instead of His? Let’s face it, He is just a guest. He is allowed in some places, but not in every place in your life.
God may have been a guest since you have known Him, and you may not have been aware of it.
Space
God taught me something last week. Which is simply to give Him space.
“Give Me space to do my work in your heart.
Give Me space in your life to be God”
Isn’t it heartbreaking when you are faced with the fact that you aren’t allowing God to be God in your life, while you profess to be a Christ follower? Yes, you have accepted Him as God in your life, but are you allowing Him to be God in your heart, in your everyday life? I wish I could honestly say yes, that I have allowed Him to be God in my life. That He has all access in every tiny fiber of my being. But I haven’t. The very fact that God had to bring this up to me is because I haven’t been letting Him be God in everything.
I have written words about giving God space, because I have promised Him to give Him space. Would you join me in giving God space? I am tired of talking about God being God in my life, I am ready to allow God to be God in my life… I pray, I hope these words inspire you and me, that they draw us closer to His heart.
Because giving God space is more like letting Him be a lover in our home instead of a guest.
Giving God space is more like accepting whatever He gives with open hands…
Space
What is surrender?
Space
Space that allows God to
have His way in your life
Surrender shouldn’t be
mere words we whisper
surrender is the only way
of the Christian’s life
it’s a way to live
a way to leave
your heart and life
abandoned in His arms
He is a perfect God
in case we have forgotten.
Space
Life is more peaceful
when you make Him room,
room in your heart,
room in your life,
for Him to work His will.
Life is peaceful
because you are not
fighting for your will in your life
but resting in
who He is and
whatever He gives
Whatever He gives you say?
Yes, isn’t He all powerful anyways?
space
with space He created
the heavens and the earth
Life was good and peaceful
space
give Him space and see what
He will create in your life
Life is good and peaceful
isn’t He God after all?
God I want to give You space so You can write Your will in my heart and in my life.
Space for You to do what You want to accomplish without me nagging, doubting, and fighting what You give.
You are a good God!
All You give me is good!
All You give me is what’s good for me! Since our vision was distorted in Eden (because we wanted to see like God?), I can’t see what’s good for me, because since Eden I have a vision problem. I hide from You and reject what You give because I can’t seem to always see Your goodness, just like Adam and Eve hid from you after eating the fruit. Oh Lord, show me that whatever You do, whatever You allow in my life is good!
Whatever You allow in my life is good!
A good God who dwells in me.
A good God who refines me and wants to make me like Jesus.
